For the Love of Barbeque

”It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on earth has ever produced the expression, ‘As pretty as an airport.” -Douglas Adams

Many people see road trips as long, drawn-out ways to get to the place where you are going. There are quicker ways to get there and to be able to spend more time there. While this is absolutely true, how do you see the amazing little places on the way? Or find the great little restaurants in between? Don’t get me wrong, there are times I think ’Dang, I wish we were flying! I would REALLY like to be there already!’, but then I think of some of the really cool places we have seen or some of the delicious food we have eaten on our way to where we are going and I am so glad for the road trip.

Evan’s Barbecue Company in Villa Rica, Georgia is one of those places we found by accident on the way down I-20 to Atlanta. Hubby and I were getting hungry, so I pulled up the trusty Yelp app and looked for something nearby. Because Hubs is a barbecue competitor we typically like to try barbecue places on road trips, so this is what I was looking for when I came across Evan’s. Deciding to give it a try, we went a little out of our way off the interstate into the small town of Villa Rica. I say small. As shocking as this is, we haven’t explored Villa Rica as of yet. We have been to Evan’s a few times, and the area of town we have been to looks to be small, but we just haven’t explored yet. 😳

Evan’s Barbecue was opened in November of 2012 in a 30-year-old renovated landmark on Bankhead Highway. Named after their son, Evan’s is a family owned, upscale barbecue restaurant with two small eat-in areas and an outside patio area. Outside you will find picnic tables, cornhole, and sidewalk chalk, so you can definitely keep the kids entertained while you wait! Everything is adorably decorated and the food is outstanding! According to Hubby, the ribs are the best he has ever had, and that is REALLY saying something! I think he orders a bucket of ribs every visit. Not in the mood for ribs? That’s ok! They have Barbecue Eggrolls that will have you coming back for more, and Smoked Fried Chicken Wings that are more than finger lickin good. While their food is beyond delicious, their service is worth coming back for alone! They are absolutely wonderful. Locals love it, as well as tourists. There is no place down I-20 that I would rather stop. I know it’s a little out of the way, but it is definitely worth giving this place a try one beautiful afternoon! So if you ever find yourself road tripping that part of I-20, be sure to take exit 24 for some of the best barbeque around!
